Trojans Avenge Loss vs. Elder

On January 13th, the Elder Panthers visited Hobart Arena and pounded the Troy Trojans 9-4. Last night, Troy made the trek to Cincinnati to face Elder in a rematch. It was Elder's senior night. On their home ice. In front of their fans. The Trojans had their work cut out for them. They needed a huge team effort and a stellar performance from their goaltender, Scott Riedel. They got both.

Riedel earned his first shutout of the season and the Trojans used a balanced attack to shut down Elder's offense in a 5-0 victory at Northland ice rink. Jack McGuirk opened the scoring in the first period off a beautiful centering feed from Ian Kuntz. It was the only goal of the period.

The second period was one of the longest periods on record with many stoppages for penalties. Scott Riedel even stopped a penalty shot awarded to Elder for a player covering the puck in the crease. The Trojans left the second period ice ahead by a score of 4-0. Goals were scored by Connor Sexton, Zak Uhlenbrock, and Ian Kuntz. Uhlenbrock would add another goal in the third period to seal the victory.

The Trojans have now won 3 out of their last 4 games and 4 out of their last 6. They return home tonight to face the Centerville Elks in their final meeting of the regular season.
