Trojans Skate to First Win of Season

Updated: Nov 8, 2018

Behind stellar goaltending from senior Scott Riedel, the Troy Trojans varsity hockey team rallied to a 5-4 victory over the Sycamore Aviators Sunday at Hobart Arena.

Down 3-1 well into the last minute of the second period, the Trojans stormed back with 4 straight goals and held off a late flurry by the Aviators to secure the 5-4 win.

Zach Uhlenbrock had 2 goals for the Trojans while Ian Kuntz, Austin Strong, and Caden Lombardo also scored.

The Hobart Arena crowd was treated to several opening night festivities. It was youth hockey night, celebrating the Troy Bruins youth hockey organization. Youth hockey players, clad in their jerseys, joined the varsity team on the blue line for the National Anthem. Each Bruin received a free chuck-a-puck as well. During intermission, three U8 players faced off in a game against three U14 players in dinosaur costumes (seriously!). It was a lot of fun for all. When the evening ended, fans received a team photo postcard and visited the Trojans outside their locker room for autographs.

Also, singing the National Anthem was a four-year old fan. You can watch a video of this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVILdq-44mo&fbclid=IwAR3rDgXgxIEUOHTshPPPjgfmFe7bGkKsY5jgWhV7o4k_L68IM64fQohHXnU

Troy next faces Thomas Worthington in an away game on Saturday followed by LaSalle at Hobart Arena on Sunday at 5:45pm.
